Is scalp micro pigmentation the same thing as a tattoo?
The process of smp and tattooing are similar. However, the difference is the depth in which the needle penetrates the skin to deposit ink. Tattooing penetrates through the skin at a deeper level than with smp. To create hair like follicles the smp needle will only penetrate 0.3 to 1.2 mm into the skin.
How painful is SMP?
SMP is not painful when done correctly. Of course pain varies from person to person. But the sensation should be bearable and in some cases clients have fallen asleep during their session
Do you need to shave your head to get SMP?
No, you do not have to shave your entire head to get SMP. SMP is a solution to darken thinning areas to look full and dimish the appearance of sparse areas. SMP can still be done through the hair remaining hair. Unless one desires to have a full buzz cut look, only then will we have to shave the hair down.
